Persévérance, Jean-Louis Étienne’s 42-meter vessel, is highly equipped for onboard scientific exploration. We were fortunate to meet it just before it embarked on its upcoming attempt to navigate the Northwest Passage through Canada and Alaska.
Jean-Louis Étienne explains:
“This is a highly capable 42-meter vessel equipped for scientific research. The onboard sensors are increasingly advanced, allowing us to collect a wide range of precise data needed to monitor the ocean’s evolution. While awaiting the Polar Pod, Persévérance undertakes its own missions in largely unexplored ocean regions, especially outside the summer months.”
Alongside it, our scientific sailing vessel FOREL is dedicated to onboard research aimed at better understanding Arctic ecosystems and the impacts of climate change on these fragile environments.
Two boats built for exploration: one shaped by a lifetime devoted to the polar regions and technological advancement, the other carrying forward an innovative scientific mission.
Two stories, two generations, one shared horizon: understanding our changing world.
