Between Two Worlds

Sometimes, to truly understand the ocean and the ecosystems it sustains, you have to plunge right into its depths.

A few days ago, photographer @rmardens and our second captain, Julien Lubrano, braved the icy waters of Greenland to immerse themselves in this remarkable environment. Their dive offered a rare perspective, at the threshold between two essential elements: air and water.

This meeting point — where light dances, marine life thrives, and subtle currents flow — is a fragile, magical space. It’s here that science and wonder meet. During this immersion, a delicate encounter unfolded: a sea angel, gliding effortlessly through the polar cold.

These half-air, half-water images invite us to witness the fragile beauty of the ecosystems studied aboard the scientific sailing vessel FOREL. They capture the richness and complexity of marine life in extreme environments, and remind us of the urgent need to protect them in the face of rapid planetary change.

We extend our warmest thanks to the divers for their dedication and for allowing us to share in this extraordinary moment beneath the surface.
