On board, he is taking part in a rather special adventure: the “FOREL Logbooks”, a comic series that tells the story of the science conducted aboard the sailing vessel.
How does it work?
Each episode takes readers into the world of one of the scientific programmes carried out aboard FOREL. For Guillaume, there is no question of telling the story of science from afar: he is on board to immerse himself in the research, understand the scientists’ daily lives, and experience the adventure as close to the field as possible.
Then comes the drawing.
Observing, listening, understanding… and transforming this experience into a comic, making this research accessible to as many people as possible.
Because for FOREL, doing science also means sharing it.
And this commitment to sharing knowledge goes far beyond borders: the FOREL Logbooks are also translated into Kalaallisut, the Greenlandic language, and distributed during the vessel’s stopovers. It is a way of sharing knowledge with the communities encountered along the journey.
This approach lies at the heart of one of the missions of the Forel Heritage Association: sharing knowledge.
Because science takes on even greater meaning when it travels, is told, and is shared with everyone.
