FOREL Reaches Greenland

Navigation 22.09.2025

After more than two weeks at sea between Lorient and Kangerlussuaq, and after successfully rounding the legendary Cape Farewell at the southern tip of Greenland, FOREL has completed the first crossing of the 2026 expedition.

Led by Captain Bénédicte Levourch and her crew, the voyage was marked by beautiful sailing conditions, encounters with whales, the first sightings of icebergs, and breathtaking Greenlandic landscapes.

“We begin our long upwind journey, tacking through rough seas: we spot our first iceberg!”
— Bénédicte, Captain of FOREL

A huge congratulations and thank you to this first crew, who safely brought the vessel to Greenland and successfully launched the 2026 season.

Since arriving in Kangerlussuaq, located at the end of one of the world's longest fjord systems, a crew change has taken place and a new team has taken over. The first scientific leg of the FOREL 2026 expedition is now beginning under excellent weather conditions in the heart of Kangerlussuaq Fjord.
