Crossing | Narsaq → Lorient
After nearly four months of expedition along the coast of Greenland, the research sailing vessel of the Forel Heritage Association is back at its home port, at the Cité de la Voile Éric Tabarly in Lorient.
This arrival marks the end of FOREL’s third Arctic expedition. After several months of sailing, scientific research and encounters across Greenland, the crew embarked on the final leg of the journey: the Atlantic crossing from Narsaq to Lorient.
Nine days and twenty hours at sea
Departing from Narsaq in southern Greenland, FOREL reached Lorient after 9 days and 20 hours of sailing. This final crossing brings the expedition to a close and marks the vessel’s return to its home port.
Over the coming days, the team will focus on unloading the scientific equipment from the vessel, carrying out maintenance and reviewing the expedition.
From the Arctic to the classroom: FOREL opens its doors in Lorient
After sailing along the coast of Greenland, FOREL will now share the experience of this expedition with the public in Lorient.
From 9 to 11 October, the vessel will be open to schools and the general public as part of the Festival des Aventuriers de la Mer. This will be an opportunity to step aboard FOREL, discover the vessel and learn more about its scientific missions and polar expeditions.
Then, from mid-October through the end of the year, FOREL will welcome school groups as part of its educational partnership with the Cité de la Voile Éric Tabarly.
After the Arctic, it is now time for knowledge-sharing and encounters in Lorient.
